Live Action Set is a Minneapolis-based physical theater performance company founded in 2003 by four directors/choreographers/performers, Noah Bremer, Galen Treuer, Megan Odell, and Vanessa Voskuil.
Committed to creating original, ensemble-driven performances that dissolve boundaries between artistic disciplines the company's productions have been widely hailed as "courageous", "beautiful" and "daring." Live Action Set believes in the power of collaboration to make a difference in their community.

HOW DO WE MAKE OUR WORK
Artistic curiosity and intrigue is our guide. This way of working has led to diverse projects with amazing collaborators: a site-specific production in the Southern Theater lobby with playwright Abi Basch, "Please Don't Blow Up Mr. Boban" with director Jon Ferguson and an incredible cast and crew, "The Percussionist" with Spaghetti Western String Co., and the building of an ice shanty with The Soap Factory.

FOUNDERS

Noah Bremer is an actor, director, and educator. He has worked with Cirque du Soleil, the Guthrie Theater, Children's Theatre Company, The Red Eye Collaboration, Theatre de la Jeune Lune, the Soap Factory, Illusion Theater, Southern Theater, Pillsbury House Theatre, and others. As a director or actor/creator, he has collaboratively created more than 40 original theatrical works. He received an Artist Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board in 2005. Also that year, the Star Tribune and City Pages recognized his co-creation of 'Please Don't Blow Up Mr. Boban,' with the latter naming him Artist of the Year. Noah has studied theater at the University of Minnesota and at the Dell'Arte School of Physical Theater in California. Megan Odell grew up in Portland, Oregon, and began her training in Horton and Graham dance techniques at Macalester College where she earned a BA degree in theater. She also has studied Meaning to Movement with DV8 Physical Theater and Action Theater with Sten Rudstrom. In Minnesota, Megan has performed in works by Laurie Van Wieren, Meredith Monk, Matt Jenson, Vanessa Voskuil, Deborah Jinza Thayer, Christopher Watson, Amy Sackett, Risa Erin Cohen, Galen Treuer, Cindy Guttierez-Garner, Brad Garner, Noah Bremer, Heidi Geier, Skewed Visions, Off-Leash Area, and The Scrimshaw Brothers. Megan was also a Ruth Easton Endowment Guest Artist at Macalester College. Galen Treuer grew up in Duluth, Minnesota, where he began performing at age eight. After graduating from Oberlin College with high honors in economics, he moved to Minneapolis in 2001 to pursue a dance career. He since has performed with more than 20 companies and choreographers, and presented choreography in several Twin Cities venues. In 2002, he began making theater with Noah Bremer, a collaboration that led to the creation of Live Action Set and an interest in European style clown. He has studied clown with Jon Ferguson, Pierre Byland, Ricardo Puccetti, and others. Galen has been recognized in the Minnesota and national press for his physical performances. His artistic activities have been supported by an Artist Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, a Travel Study Grant from the Jerome Foundation, and an Emerging Artists Residency at the New York Mills Art Center. Vanessa Voskuil is a performer, choreographer, director, and teaching artist who has created more than 17 original works presented by several Twin Cities theaters and universities. In 2006, she received an Artist Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board and a Sage Award for Outstanding Design, recognizing her production of The White Solos. Her work has been supported by the Moore Family Fund for the Arts of the Minneapolis Foundation, and by commissions from the Walker Art Center, Southern Theater, Carlton College, and Stuart Pimsler Dance Theater. Vanessa is a long-time Pimsler company member and also has performed with Skewed Visions and Catalyst Dances in the Twin Cities. She holds a BFA in dance and a BA in theater from the University of Minnesota. BOARD of DIRECTORS
