NOAH BREMER

Co-Artistic Director
HR and Touring Coordinator

Noah Bremer, co-artistic director and co-founder of Live Action Set, was born in San Jose, California and lived there only long enough to get two years of sun before moving to Seattle and enduring eight yeas of rain. He moved to Minnesota and enjoyed 2 years of snow, then to Illinois for a year of smog, and back to Minnesota for more snow where he studied theater at the University of Minnesota. He eventually escaped the snow for a year to study at the Dell'Arte School of Physical Theater in Blue Lake, Ca. Only to return to the beloved tundra that welcomed him with open arms. Noah is an actor, director, off-beat choreographer, and clown. He has worked with the Children's Theater Co., The Red Eye, Theater de la Jeune Lune, the Soap Factory, Illusion Theater, Southern Theater, Pillsbury House Theater¹s Breaking Ice program, and Works/Plays among others. He was a recipient of a Minnesota State Arts Board 2005 Artist Initiative Grant, Citypages 2005 Artist of the Year, and recognized by the Star Tribune for co-creating 'Please Don't Blow Up Mr. Boban, hailed as the "Best Experimental Work of 2005."

ALL ABOUT NOAH ANYWAY

[Megan] - What is your earliest memory?
[Noah] - Unknown to me as a child, I needed glasses pretty early on, so a lot of my memories are from things very close up and were kind of skewed. I have a lot of memories from around the same time in my life (about 8 yrs old), it's hard to think of much before that. Oh, I got it! My family had gone to Lake Tahoe for Christmas at my grandparents house and I remember seeing my parents wrapping my brother's and my presents and learning that awful truth. I was probably 5.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A fireman, a gardener, or an astronaut. I couldn't decide.
Do you have a favorite performer or performance company? Who or what is it?
My favorite company is Batsheva from Israel (dance). My favorite performer is David Shiner (clown).
If you could spend one year studying any topic from any person in any location, what would you study, from whom, and where would you do it?
For myself: Buddhism, Dalai Lama, Tibet. I don't know why exactly. I'm not a Buddhist. I don't know a ton about the Dalai Lama, and I've never been to Tibet, but I think it would be a great experience. For LAS... All four of us go study physical performance and clown in Brazil with the Lume group.
Is there a performance project that you really really really want to do?
At exactly 12:30 pm on a specific date in a specific location, 2000 people, stop motionless and smile for :30 seconds.
